Stevia Glycemic Index

Stevia rates a 0 on the glycemic index, as it contains no carbohydrates or sugars to illicit any effect.

It should be noted that high doses do illicit a higher glycemic index than 0, however, most products that contain stevia contain a small amount and anyone who uses pure, unadulterated stevia usually only needs a little to sweeten food and drinks to their taste, as stevia is naturally many times sweeter than sugar. The tiny amounts used in products generally have a 0 glycemic index. However, watch out for other sugars being added to products that contain stevia or fillers like maltodextrin. Anything with the name glucose, fructose, dextrose etc, are just different forms of sugar, and these, of course, can certainly have an effect on blood sugar.
