Using Stevia in Drinks for a Healthy Diet
The Stevia rebaudiana is an herb that grows in South America and it is used as a sweetener for more than five centuries. It has a very long
story of using in Asia and South America and there are no side effects observed up to these days. A lot of scientific studies demonstrated that
using Stevia in drinks has only healthy effects for your body, without negative effects. Currently, stevia is grown in Canada and in the US for
commercial purposes.
Even though it is over three thousand times sweeter than the sugar, the stevia has none of the negative characteristics of the sugar. It is
very safe for being used by diabetics since the glycemic index of it is zero. Since it does not act like the sugar, the stevia will not cause any
type of tooth decay and it is sometimes used as a toothpaste sweetener.
Using Stevia in drinks is the best way of reducing the side effects the soda drinks and all the sugar-sweetened drinks may have on your body.
Stevia is distributed mostly in liquid form and this is the reason it can be safely used in sweetening the drinks. It also comes in powder form
and this form is very good for sweetening the hot beverages like tea.
The sugar we use to consume in drinks is potentially dangerous for our body. Since you can see it, you may think that it is not that bad to
consume drinks like coke, sodas and ice tea without worries. It is not like that, since they have a very high level of sugar that will make you
become fat and increase the blood pressure. Using Stevia in drinks will decrease these side effects of the sugar in the daily diet.
If you thing it is too complicated using Stevia in drinks by yourself, you need to know that there are stevia drinks currently available on
the market. They look like the diet sodas, but they are healthy since they not contain any type of preservatives. All drinks can actually be
sweetened with stevia and there is no reason you cannot be using Stevia in drinks for benefiting from the good effects of it. It would be a good
idea to sweet the drinks you offer to your children with stevia for obstructing the tooth decay and prevent them putting on weight and become
more or less obese.
